Malik Dixon, Chair
Malik Dixon is a trial lawyer and small business owner. His practice is focused upon insurance subrogation, personal injury advocacy, and commercial litigation. He attended Cornell University, where he met his spouse, Dr. Shamieka Virella Dixon, Medical Director of Teen Health Connection. He obtained his law degree from the David A. Clarke School of Law. Malik previously worked in the Washington, D.C., non-profit sector, with a focus on fundraising, and has several years of small business management experience in the healthcare industry. The Dixons are from New York and now call Charlotte home. Malik has been a long-time practitioner of the martial arts and loves a good book, but most of all – he enjoys attending his girls’ extra-curricular activities (Journey Class of 2023 & Phoenix Class of 2027).
Sabrina Liner, Vice Chair
Mrs. Sabrina Liner has a B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Accounting from NC State University, and a J.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill. In a prior life, she worked as a Trusts and Estates Attorney for a large law firm in Atlanta and as a Wealth Advisor for a multi-national bank in Hong Kong. She currently works longer hours and receives less pay as a stay-at-home mom to her 2 young sons, Camilo (2nd grader at Scholars Academy) and Sevastian (Kindergartner st Scholars Academy). In the summer, you will find Sabrina and her family enjoying lake life every weekend.
Manish Mittal, Treasurer
Mr. Manish Mittal is a Business Analyst at Wells Fargo Securities, supporting Commodities and Fixed Income derivatives trading. His role involves analyzing and implementing derivative products, Market risk and Credit risk measures, regulatory reporting and operational efficiencies. He has worked at Bank of America in Global Wealth and Investment Management group and Citigroup in his prior jobs. Manish graduated from JNV University, Jodhpur, India with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He is a CFA charterholder, regular member of CFA society of North Carolina since 2006 and member of Project Management Institute since 2009. Manish also volunteers his time at the Hindu Center of Charlotte and leads the weekly radio show and library. Manish is originally from India and has lived in Charlotte for over 10 years with his wife Niketa and their two children Nandini ( Scholars Class of 2019) and Megha (Scholars 6th grade).
Sarah Schroeck, Secretary
Mrs. Sarah Schroeck is a retail Test-Prep Teacher, Master Tutor, and Master Trainer for the Princeton Review, and in that capacity, works with high school students and adults who are preparing to take the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, and MCAT tests. She also does professional development for the teachers preparing to implement the Princeton Review's school-based programs. Sarah received a B,A, in Political Science from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. She has worked as a substitute teacher at Scholars Academy. Sarah lives in Charlotte with her husband Peter and their two children, Simon (Scholars Class of 2018) and Rachel (Scholars Class of 2021). Sarah enjoys sewing and crafting, attending concerts, and visiting national parks.
Alicia Gozycki, Director
Mrs. Alicia Gozycki
runs the Scholars Academy Parent Support Group, which supplies gifted resources
and research to the Scholars community. A gifted / twice exceptional
advocate and member of SENG, Alicia has found her passion helping
local parents understand the unique traits of their gifted children. She
holds an English degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and
has worked in various capacities within the advertising and marketing
realm. Alicia and her husband Matthew have called Charlotte
home for twelve years, and have two children at Scholars, Connor (5th grade)
and Grace (3rd grade.) Alicia has been active with Team Fox and
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for four years, running two marathons, three half
marathons and multiple other races to raise funds for Parkinson's research and
support friends and family fighting the disease.
Mani Ramasamy, Director
Mr. Mani Ramasamy is a Technology Manager at Bank of America, managing the team responsible for data movement services in the Wholesale Banking area. He graduated from Bharathidasan University, Trichy in Tamil Nadu, India with a Masters degree in Computer Applications. Mani moved to the United States in 2000 and lived in Chicago for over 4 years. He moved to Charlotte back in 2005 with his wife Haripriya “Priya”. He has two children who were born in Charlotte and attend Scholars Academy, Mahathi (class of 2022) and Pranav (class of 2024). Prior to joining the Scholars board, he managed to run Arasi Nagara Tamil Palli for over 4 years, a registered non-profit school teaches Tamil, one of the oldest languages, for the students in and around the Charlotte metro area. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering in the community and loves to do outdoor activities.
Smita Korrapati, Director
Smita G. Korrapati is an attorney specializing
in real estate law. Smita graduated with honors from New York University's
Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a dual degree in Finance and
Information Systems. She then worked at Merrill Lynch as a Business Analyst
before going back to school to receive her Juris Doctorate from New York Law
School. Smita worked as an Associate at Dewey & LeBoeuf in their New York
office specializing in design, construction, leasing, aquisition and
disposition of key real estate assets of cultural, educational and governmental
clients. She also co-authored several publications as well as a treatise on
green buildings law. Smita lives in Mooresville with her husband, Vineet,
and two children at Scholars, Krish (5th grade) and Riya (3rd grade). Smita
loves dancing and enjoys (for the most part) choreographing her
AJ Farooqi, Director
AJ Farooqi is a senior analyst at Wells Fargo. AJ devises fact-based strategies and analytics to help set priorities and needs of the global commercial teams. AJ is a graduate of Rockhurst University. A resident of Charlotte for over 16 years, AJ and his wife Tahmina have two children who attend Scholars Academy. AJ and his wife have also been chairing the Annual Community Giving Campaign for the past several years. AJ is an active supporter and volunteer to help promote financial education among youth and senior citizens in Charlotte. In his spare time, AJ enjoys golf and training for half-marathons.
Sridhar Dasu, Director
Sridhar Dasu is a seasoned IT Management professional currently working at Coco-Cola Consolidated Inc., where he leads a team of business analysts supporting all business functions. He and his team wear multiple hats of being - Business Relationship Managers, Technical Data Analysts, Systems Analysts, Solution Analysts, etc., while playing the key role of acting as a liaison between the business and IT development. His previous gigs included working as an IT consultant with some of the fortune 500 Companies like Pepsi Co. and BMW. Sridhar graduated with a masters in Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering from NC State University and an MBA from Wake Forest University. Sridhar lives with his wife Haritha Wunnava and their two children Vani (Scholars Class of 2025) and Gita (Scholars Class of 2022). Sridhar enjoys the outdoors to run, bike, play, and stay active.
Alexandra Villarreal O'Rourke, Director
Alexandra Villarreal O'Rourke is a Senior Vice President and Assistant general Counsel in the Digital Banking and Advanced Solutions team at bank of America. In 2017, Alexandra and her family moved to Charlotte from Washington, D.C., where she served as an attorney for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Department of State. She graduated from Harvard Law school and the University of Texas. Alexandra immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico as a teenager, and her experience as an immigrant has fueled her passion for social justice. She is involved in a number of local nonprofit organizations and serves on the boards of the Council for Children's Rights and the Hispanic National Bar Association, among others. Alexandra and her husband, Allen, have three children, Esperanza (Scholars Class of 2028), Catalina (7th grader at Piedmont IB), and Mariana (4th grader and future aspiring Scholar).
