A few notes:

-Thank you to everyone who made it to Curriculum Night.  The presentation is attached below.

-I-Readys are scheduled for Monday, September 23 (Reading) and Wednesday, September 25 (Math).  Please let me know as soon as possible if your student will not be at school on these days.  We will schedule a make-up test for your student so please don't feel that you need to send them in sick.  We will take the I-Ready Tests in the classroom using Chromebooks and an external mouse. We are starting to work on the Chromebooks this week to give each student time to get used to using the laptops and mice. If you have something similar at home that your student can use versus a touchscreen it can be helpful for them.  The biggest challenge that I see students have besides the external mouse is that the screen is smaller so sometimes they have to scroll down to see the whole page. In this digital world, it is imperative that students learn to start troubleshooting their technology issues (i.e. sound, misspellings, scrolling, etc.)

-I made a Classroom Wishlist on Amazon.  If you are able to donate anything from the list, it is appreciated.  If you can find similar items at a lower cost, please feel free to make substitutions.  Thank you for all the donations so far!

-Use our classroom Signup Genius to sign up to be a reader, fill our Estimation Jar or to make playdough for our WordWork station.  Thank you for your patience.  As of Wednesday, the link is finally working!  Thank you in advance for signing up!

Scholastic Book Club Orders:

To order books online, please go to my Scholastic Book Club at https://orders.scholastic.com/HM23Y

For each online order, the class gets an additional $3 to spend on books. The book club has FANTASTIC prices (often cheaper than Amazon, Target, or Barnes & Noble) and offers free shipping to our classroom. The best part is when you order books, you help donate books to our classroom for student use and teacher read alouds. Many parents have told me they wish they had explored it earlier as it's a wonderful resource. I will be submitting orders around the 12th of each month and all books will be delivered to the classroom. If you order something as a surprise or gift, please let me know so I don't give the books to your child. I can contact you to collect the books at the front desk.
