Welcome to Mrs. Gutt's 2018 - 2019 Third Grade Home Page
Happy Birthday to Jack Contreras! May 23rd!!
This week was a little bit more normal than we have had in the past few weeks. Next week will be back to the “abnormal.” We have a lot going on! This week, students buckled down and worked hard, but you certainly can tell it is close to the end of the year. They definitely struggle to keep quiet. This group can be very social when given the chance!
On Wednesday we will go on our field trip to the Energy Explorium. Students will need to bring a disposable lunch to eat while on the trip. We recommend wearing tennis shoes, as we will be taking a short hike. Please make sure your child is at school on time, as we must depart from the school no later than 8:30 AM.
Friday is the Math EOG. The best way to prepare your child for this test is to give them a good dinner the night before, make sure that they go to bed on time and eat a big breakfast before coming to school. STUDENTS MUST BE AT SCHOOL ON TIME! Students that arrive after testing has started will not be permitted to enter the classrooms. They will have to wait by the front desk until their entire class has completed the test and will have to makeup the test on another day. These are rules that the state mandates so it is extremely important for students to get to school on time.
Last Thursday, bright yellow Back to School Supply Pre-order forms went home in your child’s Take-home Folder. Please consider purchasing next year’s school supplies through our PTO. This fundraiser directly impacts the teacher’s ability to purchase needed classroom supplies each year. Parents can also purchase online. Orders are due May 31st. Here is the link to order online: https://www.scholarsacademy.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=334179&type=d&termREC_ID=&pREC_ID=744732
Ms. Bernard will be offering small groups for math games and reading/writing over the summer. Groups will meet at the school. These groups are for improving on current skills and decreasing the summer slide. There are two age groups (rising 1-2 and rising 3-5). In math, we will be working on fact fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division plus fractions, measurement and other skills. In reading and writing, we will be reading short passages, doing discussion and writing responses plus investigating vocabulary. Check out the Sign Up Genius link for days and times that groups will meet at the school. Sign up for either one day or several. There are opportunities for math games and reading/writing practice. The sessions are independent of each other so no need to come for a whole week or both math and reading/writing. Check it out and contact Ms. Bernard if you have questions, email@example.com.
Please check your child's book bag each day to make sure that they are bringing home their Orange Take-Home folder and their agenda. Students are expected to write in their agendas for each subject. The take-home folder also contains school notices, permission slips and their homework if it is a worksheet.
Tuesday Work will go home this week on Tuesday May 21th and will need to be returned on May 23rd.
