INFORMATION FOR RISING 5TH GRADE BAND STUDENTS

Attached is an information sheet about what a concert band is, how to choose a band instrument, which instruments are available to choose from and pictures for you to number 1, 2 or 3 to show your top 3 choices for the instrument you want to play.

DO NOT BUY A BAND INSTRUMENT

UNTIL YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN TESTED

FOR THE BEST INSTRUMENT

Choosing players for a concert band is like baking a cake--you have to have the right ingredients in the right proportions. Having too many saxophones or too few trombones will make the band sound bad. Please be open to playing any instrument, based on the ability of the child.

After NOTA & Carowinds, I need some time to get organized before we start the playing tests for band students. I will be talking to the 4th grade this week (May 21-Thomas & 23 Hinkleman) about how band instruments work and we will explore the different instruments in class. NOT EVERYONE will get a chance to play something, so please be patient.

I will set up the Sign Up Genius soon and let you know when I can start play testing students.

Visit my "Rising 5th Grade Band Info" page for more information and videos.

Thank you for your patience. I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm.
