 Welcome to The Scholar’s Academy’s

Third Grade Newsletter - June 3rd-June 7th

Dear Parents,

This is it! Our last newsletter of the year, and it sure is bittersweet. We have said numerous times to each other this year how sad it’s going to be when we say goodbye to this crew. We’ve had a wonderful year with your children. Not only are they bright and inquisitive, but incredibly kind and understanding. Their good character will always serve them well.

Next week is a busy week! Each day holds a special activity or surprise for the students. Children often get tired and irritable when their schedules are interrupted, so we’d like to ask you to keep their home schedules as normal as possible. (We know you’re thinking, “Yea, right!”) However, nutritious food and proper sleep will help us all this last week.

Please plan to send a small trash bag or large grocery bag to school with your child on Monday. We will be cleaning out our cubbies and desks. Book bags are just not big enough for all of their supplies, papers, etc. Thank you in advance.

Next Friday, June 7th, is a half day of school. This year, report cards, Reading EOG scores, and iReady scores for math and reading will come home with the students. They will not be mailed this year. If your child will not be in school next Friday, please plan to come to the school to get their report card and test scores. Math EOG scores will not be available until the Fall. The math test was revised this year, and the state of North Carolina will be calculating the scores over the summer.

Happy Birthday to our Summer Babies: Yasna, Aleena, Rishabh, Margaret, Yash, Izzi, Victoria, Shayan, Lucy, Elyse, Saakshi, and Saujanya!

Lastly, we’d like to thank everyone who has volunteered for us this year. Whether you chaperoned a field trip, planned or helped with a party, sent in supplies and/or party goods, volunteered for FPS, taught us about your career, or just wished us happy thoughts, we appreciate you all! We couldn’t have had the successful year we’ve had without your help. We’d like to extend an especially big thank you to Mrs. Cleary and Mrs. Kamineni for being our awesome room parents!

Summer opportunities:

Ms. Bernard will be offering small groups for math games and reading/writing over the summer.  Groups will meet at the school. These groups are for improving on current skills and decreasing the summer slide.  There are two age groups (rising 1-2 and rising 3-5). In math, we will be working on fact fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division plus fractions, measurement and other skills.  In reading and writing, we will be reading short passages, doing discussion and writing responses plus investigating vocabulary. Check out the Sign Up Genius link for days and times that groups will meet at the school.  Sign up for either one day or several. There are opportunities for math games and reading/writing practice.  The sessions are independent of each other so no need to come for a whole week or both math and reading/writing.  Check it out and contact Ms. Bernard if you have questions, mbernard@scholarsacademy.org.
