Welcome to The Scholar’s Academy’s

Third Grade Newsletter - September 23-27, 2019

Dear Parents,

We’ve had another great, but busy, week! Students worked diligently on the I-Ready tests in reading and math given last Monday and Tuesday. The results of the I-Ready tests, as well as the BOG scores, will be available during our Fall conferences in October. Please see the note about conferences below.  Students were also such troopers on Wednesday morning when our power and internet was out. They followed the usual procedures and adapted to class in the hall or the cafeteria or math games in the dark. One even remarked that it was like having school in the 1890’s!

Students were able to visit the library this week. Mrs. Keel, our parent volunteer, reviewed the rules for use and allowed the students to check out books. If you have not yet applied for your child’s library card, please do so immediately. We want everyone to be able to take advantage of the resources in our library, as we conduct quite a bit of research in the third grade. For our new parents, students are allowed to check out five books at a time, for a period of two weeks, as long as no books are overdue.

Next week is our Scholastic Fall Book Fair. Students will be allowed to purchase, with teachers’ permission at anytime, as long as they “show us the money”!  They will view the book fair during one ELA class period and make their wish lists.

Please don’t forget the PTO Fall Festival on Friday, September 27th immediately after school! This is a great way to support our school’s projects, activities, and goals while enjoying great fun with family and friends.

If you haven’t already, please look at your email for a link to our Sign-Up Genius. We’ve posted our Fall Conference schedule.  Most conferences will take place in the afternoon of October 10th and the morning of October 11th.  If you are unable to meet on those dates, please email us with several dates/times that work for you and we will try to get it scheduled.  At this time you will be meeting with your child’s homeroom teacher, only.

We hope everyone has a fabulous, and much cooler, weekend!

Beth and Lysa
